Rev 1.1 standalones and Panther

I'm waiting on a QT-controller fix for Rev. 2 standalones in OS X.  In 
the meantime, has anyone tried to run Rev. 1.1 standalones in Panther?  
I received a message today that when doubleclicking on a Rev. 1.1 
standalone in Panther, the Classic environment tried to start up.  I 
have not installed Panther yet and so have not been able to confirm 
this.  Is there any way of forcing an OS X standalone to run 
"natively"?  Is there a flag that signals to the OS which way to go?
