This brings an idea to mind... If we can "do fld 1 as AppleScript", can we not "do fld 2 as JavaScript"? It looks like even if it does work, it is only available to Mac users (according to the documentation for the do command, regarding alternate languages). This would be great if it were expanded to include all platforms.
May not be as easy as it looks, because AppleScript, Javascript, Frontier, etc. are provided on the Mac by hooking into Apple's Open Scripting Architecture. I don't think there's a similar system service on the other platforms.
