YES, actually it is!
And of course reliable and easy small to large scale deployment: the Apple
store runs under WebObjects. I use it for medical images database and image
processing via web pages: see http://www.imed.ch/dermoscopy

Surely more easy to maintain than Revolution scriptsin large projects but it
takes time to learn all the many Java Classes for efficient developement.
I know of a Web Objects project that failed because the learning curve was too steep: Java programming in a complex web app environment.
Web Objects used to be Objective-C. Apple dissed a lot of users when they rewrote Web Objects in Java. Many legacy Obj-C WO sites probably still exist.
But if you can get over the learning curve, and be confident Apple is not going to rewrite it again, then Web Objects is sure powerful for complex business apps.
