and while I'm writing, the same crowd might know of the best way in RR to access CoreMidi devices, perhaps with a coremidi external... ?

I'm presently working on an app that will open AIFF files and display the waveforms (and eventually do FFT, filtering and other sound processing, and then save the result as AIFF).
