I have also been trying to work this out - in the process have used a lot of paper.
I can't advise on the Rev print routines as I tend to roll my own, but I can offer this: When testing printing you'll save a lot of paper using a virtual printer, generating PDFs or other similar output. In OS X you can do this from the Print dialog itself; for Mac OS 9 there's the freeware Chooser device PrintToPDF, and GhostPrint for Win. These things have save my bacon (and my printer cartidges) many times.
