Yes, you can send AT and other commands to the modem, but why is there
nothing for playing sounds or receiving touch tones? This seems like a good
feature to have if it's possible.
On the Mac, they didn't connect the sound ports (in or out) to the modem port. Seems like an obvious thing to do but ... they never did it. So you can have the modem port be a modem port (or fax) but it doesn't deal with sound. The voice recognition folks at Apple have been pushing for that kind of internal connectivity for a long time and so far ... nada.
