I am looking into creating my own externals and have a few questions.
Are there docs specifically addressing OS X?
Not that I know of.
Why would building for OS X be any different than *NIX flavors? The readme with the external SDK refers to using ResEdit is this necessary for OS X? I have built many libs for OS X and bever found this necessary.
You don't need ResEdit for OS X.
There is little documentation with the External SDK where can I find further information?
There is a tutorial that will be released with 2.5. Mark Wieder put it together. It should make getting started with externals much easier.
Examples for OS X and Linux?
I would take a look at some of the code of existing externals which may be helpful until the tutorial comes out. Here are some links to some that include source code.
