If you don't have Rev (or Perl, or Python, or ....) it would be easy to write an awk script to do this.

It has been too long since I used Unix .... you don't need awk or Perl for this;


cat << myeoftoken > somefile.txt
line 1
line 2
....
last line
myeoftoken

is all you need in most shells

(Of course, Frank's answer is better, if you are able to send numtochar(4) :-)
