Ah yes, this is true. On OS X, the application root is it's position in the bundle. An OS X application is actually a sort of folder. If you select the app in the finder with the control key down you can "Show Package Contents" to see what I mean...

Try working with the "effective filename" of the stack instead of the
"defaultFolder". This resolved a stack filepath confusion problem for a
(Win-only) stack of mine.
