There is no option to disable the Online Viewer in the DreamCard player,
since the Online Viewer is the only way to open a stack. That is the crux
of my complaint.
If the player gave people a normal open file dialog, it would be
easier. It took me a while to realize I had to hit the folder icon to open
a stack on the disk. It would also be nice if you could double click a
.rev file on Windows and have it launch the player. I think one problem
with this working is that the player on Windows isn't really just a
player. It is a short cut that is run with "-player."
If you double click the Authorware runtime, it presents a get file dialog
asking what to run. That would seem to be less confusing than the Online
Viewer. Perhaps it could have a button on the Get File dialog that says
"Browse Online Stacks" if the user spaces online are a common way to
distribute Dreamcard stacks.

The original question mentioned the Online Viewer launching. I don't
know about DreamCard, but it's probably the same as in Rev: all you
have to do is uncheck the Launch Rev Online box in the Preference
panel and it's gone. Soooooo... it isn't a problem.

Then you should buy the full version of Revolution so you can

One of the differences between Dreamcard and Revolution is
precisely this ability. I'm hard pressed to see how you have a
legitimate complaint here when the ability to solve it once and for
all is available. RunRev make Dreamcard available as an option for
those who don't want to purchase a full Revolution license; if they
made the two products identical, they'd have to charge the same for
them.
Or am i missing something really obvious here?

Yes, but it shouldn't oughta have to come down to that. I dislike
intervening screens when I open my stacks, or any program, for
that matter. It's just not polite behavior to jump into the
middle of things without being invited
