Dan offered the tip:
Before you open the stack, click on the "Messages" icon in the Rev toolbar. That suspends all system messages until you toggle it back on. Saves my life about three times a month.
Then later, when nothing is working anymore, not even mouse clicks, and you're tearing out hair, and yelling to the neighborhood, "THIS WAS WORKING A MINUTE AGO!!", just reach up and flip it back on again. This happens to me about twice a month.
