Have you experimented with the printMargins? It may be that if you've set them to a smaller value than your printer supports, some value (like 1 inch) gets used. I've had various difficulties when printing, but experimenting with the printMargins has usually sorted this kind of problem. I'm certainly no expert, so maybe someone else here can suggest something more specific...
