One of the key features is that there is only one very simply stack that is part of the standalone. The vast majority of the code for the app exists in regular stacks that are not part of the standalone and there for can be
"saved to".

I think another term for this type of architecture is the "Splash Screen" App. Since it is often only the splash screen that is bound to the runtime.
