Don't know, but my guess would be "no". A standalone has a stack
attached. When there's a stack, the engine tries to launch in GUI mode.
I suspect that would cause errors.
Haven't tried it though.
I haven't actually done it myself, but Mark Waddingham or someone else
at RunRev once suggested it should work. I guess when running with a .mt
it's no different from using libraries, which definitely work when
running as a CGI...
