Thanks to all who contributed to my query about external devices.
Sarah's suggestion of the Weeder modules utilizing serial
connections, and Robert's discovery of a new USB I/O device from
Germany, appear to be potential solutions, at least. I've got a lot
to digest and research . . . I will keep you posted if I make any
headway. Thanks again for your wonderful support!
