To preserve transparency for PNGs.
Create your artwork on a layer (not the background layer!) in Photoshop.
Make sure the checkerboard pattern shows through where you want the
transparency to be.
Save for Web under the file menu, choose PNG-24 format and check the
transparency button. That should do it.
Import as control > Image file under File Menu in Rev into stack.
