One problem I'm having is that when I change the direction of an arrow, it
changes all of them because they're all the same arrow image. Does anybody
know a way to avoid this?

Take a look at the imageSource property. You can check the imageSource of
the character clicked on to determine if the user clicked on the image.
You can check in the mouseDown handler.
