I'd rather see reasonable lighting and a microphone at least on the podium before worrying about obfuscating bad video with clever editing. A full time camera operator that is not a participant is essential.

Amateurs usually don't bother with production values such as these, but it's silly as these things are easily done. This raises the value of the presentation to something that could endure, rather than be a throw-away one shot.

It's one thing to say 'throw up a camera' and another to sit and watch a stationary camera shot on a computer for an hour.

Also editing takes hour$. It's better to get well-recorded C-Span- like live coverage with a little switching, then you're done.

There is a lot of semi pro video around - surely there's someone competitive in the area to do this.

My shooting the video last year was done just for fun. It was never intended by me to make a commercial product from it. I just was shooting video and posting it on my website to allow people that could not attend experience some of the juice. I shot video with my little family cam while others were taking photos for the same reason. The quality of the video is a reflection of many things, but was not an attempt by Dan or Chipp to get something for cheap that was later to be sold. It was done purely for fun. BTW, I got a lot of e-mails direct and on the list thankful for the effort. I don't remember the specs, but I had GBs of downloads for the videos I posted.

I believe it would be wonderful if a pro could do the job. If it doesn't happen, I still think there is some value to post the keynote as it does generate a lot of excitement based on the feedback I received. I don't think I would attempt to record anyones presentation as the lighting is very dark, I do not have the proper equipment, and I did not get to enjoy the presentations as much due to having to keep up with the task.

If we are unable to have a pro record the presentations, the question still stands. Is anyone interested in some basic video footage of the keynote (provided Dan and Chipp agree) without C-Span quality coverage? I don't mind recording it, and posting it on my site as fast as my little computer can go.
