That would be "as the crow flies" -- since he's getting credit on his taxes for every mile actually travelled he'll want the actual route mileage, which will always be longer. His routes will also very likely be intra-city or suburbs at best. Losts of 10-mile and 20-mile trips adding up. Nice to know about your stack, though.
