I realize this...but in all of my real world tests...this does not actually funtionc correctly...Rev begins to have all sorts of playback artifacts...etc...I wish it were not the case...and if I am missing something I would love to know...but the videos I am playing are 640 by 480...full screen kiosks and CDS, and I have never gotten the alwaysBuffer property to correct the problem...

You can, if you set the alwaysBuffer property of the player to true. When alwaysBuffer is true, you can layer other objects on top of players. However, you lose the user of the controller when you do this, and you'll have to script buttons to start and stop playback.
