Is it possible to copy an image (png format) that has been placed
as a referenced control to the clipboard?

I just tried this and it worked:
put "binfile:" & the fileName of control id 1003 into tURL
get URL tURL
set the clipboardData["image"] to it
(NOTE: in my little example "control id 1003" is the referenced control)
