I have been reading about the affordable (< $100) fingerprint scanners. It
seems they all want to dig themselves into the OS and replace the
authentication routines for logging in to the PC. I don't want this at
all. The only thing I want is for my app to read a username from the
device after it scans a fingerprint. Many users will be adding data with
this app from a single user login (like a kiosk).

There is potential in the fact that these scanners can authenticate web
sites. Therefore, if there is no other way, I am thinking I can serve a
web page up from the Rev app itself and grab the username from a submitted
form. Will this work?
