Many years ago, when I was cutting code in VB, I came across a compiler
designed to create externals (DLLs) in Basic.

The boys at PowerBasic had taken the original basic IDE and massaged it into
a DLL maker.

I latched onto it and have used it for years, with no problems.

So if you have a background in Basic (and who doesn't) here is a better
option that C++.

Unless of course you need it to run really fast, then there is no substitute for C/C++.
