If you want the AIFF files to be part of the stack, you can use File menu > Import as Control > All Audio Files in Folder...

If, on the other hand, you just want to access the audio files but leave them external to the stack, just set the defaultFolder to the folder holding the files. Then the play command will play any AIFF file in that folder simply by naming the file:

play "myfile.aif"

Obscure feature warning: the play command only works with *uncompressed* aiff files.
