I have already reported this bug to Ubuntu and also informed Rev (Kevin) about it, so this thread is just for the record or for your participation.

Here is the original text of my report:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In previous versions of Ubuntu, Runtime Revolution programs can be run directly from a pendrive by double-clicking on their icon.

In Feisty Fawn Flight 4, this does not happen. Instead, the following message is given:

"Cannot open /media/KINGSTON/revapp
No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file"

If it is a bug, I hope to see it fixed. If it is a new "feature", I don't want it. Runtime Revolution apps can still be run in this manner from the Desktop, and I see no reason why they should not run in a similar manner directly from a common pendrive.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
By mistake, I referred to "Flight" 4 when in fact it should now be "Herd". They both mean "Beta".

So far, Ubuntu have only asked me to supply a Rev standalone app for testing, which I have done. There are no further reports yet. If you would like to follow, or participate in, the progress of this bug (which I sincerely hope is not supposed to be an intended feature), navigate to:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/88229

You might also like to note how simple and client-friendly their bug reporting system is...
