I have also tested "pdf995".  It has allot of batch conversion capability. 
 It also produces nice quality PNG and JPG files from a PDF source. 
"pdf995" also uses Ghostscript as its conversion engine.  As a general 
purpose PDF virtual printer though, you can't beat CutePDF Writer.
