In fact, it is not necessary to expose your password when accessing a
network drive in Linux. I cut this out of Mark's suggested command line.
On my network/machines, the following worked perfectly:
put "smbclient \\\\john\\c -Wmshome -cdir" into procToDo
put shell(procToDo) into field "test"
