A lot of databases and spreadsheets use "-" as a valid date separator, so
considering these data sources, this would make sense.   Of course, in Rev
"01-01" would be "1 - 1" which is 0.

in Excel, this string would become  Jan 01 of the current year, unless this
was during daylight savings in a leap year, and then you would have to
consult one of the moons orbiting Saturn.
