What I am aiming at is a way of assigning a video-streaming source an IP address - this obviously has to "come into the computer" via the Ethernet port, and that means through a USB server of some sort.
Unless the video source itself (be it a camera or A/D convertor) is network-enabled, the only way I know of would be to set up QT Streaming Server or similar on the computer that the source is attached to. A USB server isn't going to help with this. :-(
