Maybe silly question, but is there any way to do threading properly if you are reading the list from the archive? I've been unable to get the list mailings through my ISPs spam filter, so read the archive on the web. But when you respond, even if you use the right subject header, or put re in the subject, it always seems to start up a new thread.
As far as the personalities are concerned, everyone can't like everyone. Everyone can however be polite to everyone. And absolutely everyone can keep off personalities.
