Hi Paul, Kenji, I am in fact using uniencoded text so perhaps that is my problem. I wonder if it is a particular character or simply the number? The 10,000 I noted was not an exact count but it refers to the SJIS character count, not the unicode char count.

Ron, I cannot display Japanese characters(UTF16) over about 10,000 in one line. After removed from char 1 to 10,000 in the text field, I can see the rest of other 10,000 characters.
