I missed most of this thread, but I'm getting it by context, I think.
So, here's my bit.
I'm thinking about writing another book, and remembering all the
difficulty I had with the last one. So, I'm cobbling together a stack
that will help me write more comfortably and efficiently this time.
Each card will contain a heading or a paragraph, or maybe a sketch of
a paragraph that I intend to write later. Chapters, headings and
paragraphs will have sequence numbers. They will be easily re-
sequenced and re-sorted. Chapters can be re-titled and re-sequenced,
too. The topic sentence of each paragraph will be labeled, and each
paragraph will have a short title. Cards will be color-coded to
indicate the kind of items they contain.
I'll create clickable indexes for paragraph titles, topic sentence,
headings, and so on. The stack will sort chapter titles, headings and
topic sentences or paragraph titles into outlines.
Paragraphs will be marked with radio buttons such as "ready for prime
time" "not bad, but needs work" "what a mess" "citation needed" and
so on. I'll filter unimportant words to create summaries of
paragraphs, chapters, or the whole book. Other fields on each card
will contain useful notes to myself, not intended for inclusion in
the final product.
Other cards will contain, label and index items not ready to be
sequenced, such as vague ideas, or tentative sentences or paragraphs,
as well as citations and sources and so on.
It's probably been done before, and done better, but it's mighty nice
to be able to put it together just as it suits me, and to begin using
it almost immediately, as I gradually improve it, and try out new
features.

I just wrote an app that I have needed for some time. It keeps my
external hard drives from going to sleep. I may be working them
extra hard, but I just can't stand the spin up time it takes to get
