I used a free tool the other day called "Process Monitor" which you
can get from Microsoft at:

Click on the "Process Utilities" category.
It is a tool that allows you to monitor events generated by your app.
You can apply filters so only events generated by your application
are listed. Maybe this will give you an idea of what is going on.
