I totally agree with this.

In France, when registering, you have also to pay the VAT (European Union)
So for the Standard you pay : 350 + VAT -> about more than 411 dollars.

More : Rev and the docs are not in French...
(not really a problem, but...hum...)

HyperCard had a large audience in France (and lots of other
countries...) perhaps because the player was distributed with the
computer by Apple ... don't know... but what I know is that many
users look for a tool like Rev on their machine.
I'm teaching on PCs and Macs at my university, especially for
building tests and experiments (Psychology department) and many
students "need" to know about the existence of Rev ! ;-)

Anyway, about the script limits, I think it's a good way to learn how
to optimise a script !
As the docs say, you can really make an application with the Starter
Kit, but of course you have to think about the scripts limits and
manage that with the custom properties, tips, 'do' and 'send'
commands, and so on...

Well, of course, 350 dollars is too much for a student, but not at
all for the university. If less than 100 dollars as you say... hum...
it's just a dream ? :-)

Last thing, many Mac (Hypercard) users have gone to the PC... many
developers left Hypertalk for RBasic or an other tool... So, I want
to thank all the Revolution Team for Rev on Mac and... PC !

Bienvenue au Transcript ! :-)
