Actually, Richard, there was a study that some folks (at Apple, I think)
did on this subject using, ironically, a product called HyperHolmes, a
Hypercard stack on all things Sherlockmania. It's in the ACM journals
somewhere. I've got a paper copy I use for examining this very topic in
my class.
ACM stuff is online but you have to pay to download if you're not a paid
member (I'm not, so I just use the paper version).

Btw: thank you for the kind words in your earlier post. What with 5-mo.
