First, Revolution seems like a very impressive program. Of course a
new release of this magnitude will have some bugs, no surprise in
that. But the support here is excellent and the dedication to
creating something great and fixing bugs quickly appears to be
there.

However, below see why a "no upgrade" license is NOT attractive to
rational customers for any reasonably complex software product.

I expect that limitation has put off quite a few potential
purchases. It puts me off. There's simply no way to produce software
like this in a timely fashion without a variety of bugs showing up.
As long as they are fixed quickly as reported, that's not a huge
problem, UNLESS you have a license that doesn't get updates. Then
you're hosed, right?

The logical consumer approach is to do what Shari is doing, do not
buy the product. As a business strategy, setting up your customers
to delay purchasing until the product is bug-free loses money now
and could easily lose that money forever. There is no such thing as
a bug-free program of this magnitude.

OTOH, Kevin's message makes it seem that they will, in fact, ship
everyone bug fix updates. If this is the new policy (and it should
be), it would be a very good idea to make it clear. This would
remove a large barrier to purchasing for those who cannot currently
justify paying more than the least expensive licensing option.

I hope this feedback is helpful.

Best Regards,
 -Jamie

PS. The Hypercard update program is a big step in the right
direction. (But now there's no pretending that Hypercard users are
not part of the intended Revolution market. ;^)
