GEP can be cleanly uninstalled, if it has been cleanly installed. To ensure this do the installation via Help->Install New Software If GEP have been installed via New Server ... A clean install can be done afterwards.
Go to Help->Installl New Software, then ensure that Hide items that are already installed is UNCHECKED then select the version of the server adapter you have already installed and install it. This will update some meta information in Eclipse.
