Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update on the progress of the Gora + Amazon DyanmoDB
Google Summer of Code Project. Well since it was last discussed on
list there has been quite a significant degree of progress. I would
really advise anyone interested in the future project outcomes to take
a bit of time to get up to speed with the project reporting which is
stored here[0].

In the last few reports Renato has made considerable work on a
restructuring of gora-core to accommodate web services (and actually
gora-sql!!!) as well as significant progress on the dynamodb module.
Fundamentally he discovered early underlying problems/conflicts of
interest between Avro and Amazon DynamoDB and therefore implemented
the restructuring of gora-core you now see in the goraamzon branch.
The upside of this is that many other datastores can now extend the
structure as well so it's quite clear this project is going to have a
longer than originally anticipated legacy for Gora :0)

Although I have the task of official project mentor I think it
important to write to everyone and get feedback if any is offered.
Renato and myself were discussing whether to keep the amazon branch in
sync with trunk and although this is important I also think it is
important for us to communicate the expected changes the project will
ultimately propose back into Gora trunk.

So with that said I encourage anyone to chip in on this thread with
anything they feel would either improve the project direction which we
can take on board and possibly incorporate within all of our best
interests.

Thanks for now and ta in advance to anyone for input
Lewis
