aws signature version 4

Hello list,
                Is there a plan to make AWS signature V4 as the default
request signing method? If yes, can someone please point me to the JIRA for
the same?  As a client application, Is there a way for me to switch between
V2 and V4 signatures?

Any help is appreciated.
