Leveraging new C# and .NET features is what's lacking for me.

Not able to help myself, but I would support it if there was a continual
drive to develop and maintain it.

The iBATIS.NET community is currently seeking new committers to continue the
maintenance, development and innovation behind the future of iBATIS.NET

I personally believe that iBATIS.NET can have a very bright future in the
.NET community, perhaps even bigger and better than its Java counterpart.

Why?

  * There is less competition in the space, and of what's there, only
NHibernate is really relevant
  * iBATIS is complimentary, not directly competitive to NHibernate, so
there's space for both in the .NET stack
  * Nothing Microsoft offers is similar or competitive to iBATIS.NET. LINQ
to SQL was deprecated (IIRC), the Entity Framework is more competitive to
NHibernate than iBATIS
  * Stored procedures are more common in Microsoft architectures, and iBATIS
has always supported procs better than any other framework
  * C# is a more powerful and expressive language than Java, that creates a
lot of opportunity to do great things with iBATIS.NET
  * C# features such as LINQ, Lambdas, Attributes and Anonymous types (to
name a few) create a lot of opportunity for innovation

To let iBATIS.NET fall would be a shame. The community has spoken, and they
want a team to carry it forward.

I myself would do it, if I was not already swamped with the Java version.
Indeed, I envy the team that gets to build the next generation of
iBATIS.NET.

*** INSTRUCTIONS ***

  1. Please nominate yourself in response to this thread, using the
following format:

            I <Insert Name Here> nominate myself for iBATIS.NET committer.

  2. Please respond to nominations with your vote, using the following
format:

            +1 for <Insert Name Here> for iBATIS.NET Committer

  3. I will tally the votes and submit the new committers to the PMC and
assign commit privileges.

Minimum of 3 votes per committer are required.

We may decide to arbitrarily limit the number of new committers so it
doesn't become a gong show. We may also require a second round of voting if
it does turn into a gong show. :-)

*** NOMINEES ***

  * As a nominee, be sure to vote for your fellow nominees!
  * There will be more than one committer, and no leader specified.
  * A leader will emerge through the meritocracy.
  * Over time, the leadership and perhaps all of the committers who make a
difference will be added to the iBATIS PMC.

*** Be honest with yourself and others. Expect to spend 6 - 12 hours a
week on iBATIS.NET to work toward a new release! ***
*** But if you're good enough to be a committer, you should be able to do
it while watching Battlestar Galactica! ***
*** We're a pretty fun team that's light in process, but high in
principle. ***

To expedite the process, fill out an ICLA form and submit it, following the
instructions included on the form:

Let the voting begin!
