Calendar type problem

Hi all;

Table1
        Column Name ||   Type  
        date                       Date

class.java
   private Calendar date1;
   //getter setter methods for date..

But it did not work. Calendar is not be supported by ibatis?  If i change date1 variable type to Date format, it works.

private Date date1 > works
private Calendar date1 > did not work

Here is the exception :

com.ibatis.common.jdbc.exception.NestedSQLException: --- The error occurred in net/aksakal/xml/Event.xml. --- The error occurred while applying a result map. --- Check the getEvents-AutoResultMap. --- Check the result mapping for the 'date' property. --- Cause: com.ibatis.sqlmap.client.SqlMapException: No type handler could be found to map the property 'date' to the column 'date'. One or both of the types, or the combination of types is not supported. Caused by: com.ibatis.sqlmap.client.SqlMapException : No type handler could be found to map the property 'date' to the column 'date'. One or both of the types, or the combination of types is not supported.

Any  Thoughts?
