Anyway - I have little to offer on the technical front of shaders and VSL - ONLY to say and reiterate that whatever shader anyone does - DO IT FOR THE REST OF US non tech individuals. Plain english wording on the sliders / parameter boxes in the nonadvanced section of the shader if possible.Cheers Aidan
OK, here's a simple slope-sensitive rock/snow shader with a little frontend with comments (uncheck 'advanced'). The funny thing about this shader is that the snow extends at the bottom of the noise cracks, which avoids too much smoothness. Ask ahead about the VSL, only I'm not sure I have all the answers, it's a few weeks ago ;)
Apply as a parallel mapping with the blue Z-axis pointing upward. -Mark H
