Hi Guys,
This message is a little off topic but I thought - seeming 3D is art that
you guys might be interested. I was watching a show on BBC earlier today
about ZEUGMA - this is an archeological super find in Turkey. A place of
Roman Villa's with amazing Mosaics. Before anymore is said have a look here:
http://www.zeugmaweb.com/zeugma/english/engindex.htm
Particularly at the Download Page to grab some images for your desktop.
I had heard of this before but forgot about it :( - Maybe ye guys came
across this before too, but worth a revisit. Google for more up to date info?
The tragedy of this find is that it is now being slowly flooded / has been
flooded as it is in the receiving end of a recent dam which went into
operation. Alot of the villa's which may have had mosaics and alot more are
now under water for ever.
I know - progress has to happen, but when I saw this on television I felt
saddened at the loss of such an archeological find.
Enjoy the site and pics - have a look also at the Zeugma in Press page for
more detail.
In the show on the BBC they recreated one of the villa's in 3D - have to
say it was good 3D work. From this villa at least they salvaged most of the
mosaics by cutting them out and building them again off site,
Cheers
Aidan
