Hm, it took me 2 minutes to install the nvidia 3D driver on my machine.

Concerning software installation you are partially right. What you probably 
mean withe 'modules' are the dependencies wich have to be resolved before you 
can install some specific software packages. But this problem will only appear 
when you try to install software wich is not a part of your distribution, e.g. 
when you try to install a program found on the internet. This is still a weak 
point of rpm based package management systems. Debians apt-get solution is 
better here, because it can resolve those depencies automatically.
