This seems to me to be a time thing where the object(s) become visible when the 
light is on and becomes invisible when the light is off. If that is the case 
then animate the Fade material (materials library/Constant/Fade) to coincide 
with the light. If the light is to shine on only that object and no others then 
use the Light Sensitivity material.

But there are a ton of other things you might be referring to so maybe I'm 
completely off target.
