do you have Win XP SP2 (and the important security updates) installed?
I have XP Pro 32bit SP2 fully updated. But before the re-install I did not
have updates because I never used this machine online and it wasn't
networked so no need for them and no chance to download them.
older games and apps don't work properly with SP2
I dont do games so I dont know, sorry.

I am still using Win XP SP1 because I have heard in the past, that older
games and apps don't work properly with SP2. Is this correct?
Maybe I/we have to update our win system?
