Hi Matthias..

Thx for your input..

I am not sure how to make it happen..
I didnt mean though that it would be more difficult with just one image.. only less intuitive.. Hmm just brainstorming.. but if one just sets *= in 2nd image material...?, and apply then with the Map2Obj Tool in a 2nd go..! If then 1st image gives the sphere that is in the 1st row and 2nd column in "Front" (x, y) and 3rd in "Side" (z) the value 1 "Side" image material with *= set... multiplies its value with the current value on that sphere.. Then your script dont need any changes at all.. or am I missing something obvious here..`?=)..

btw...
Your mention paint functions..
That makes me think of, that if the Vertex Painter tool could have an "Objects Mode" (Or an "Obj Paint Tool") so you could "Paint" the size on objects it touches.. and maybe with a user definable gradient on how much it will have effect on objects closer to the Paintbrush center .. and so on..
then you could "Sculpt"
Lets say you set it to work on attribute "Scale", then set a value (in this case Scalefactor) then all spheres that the brush touches, scales down.. so its like you cutting away from the 3 dim array of spheres... (or whatever objects..).. Or maybe Zaug expands his cool RangeZ script to use a Brush...to apply attributes..! (but I guess paint type of things, needs more work and more of a plugin .. or so...)

I was about to suggest something similar, so one can use it on the new cool Plant Tool in V6.. to shape trees/plants.. =)... Would be awesome, it would then work by changing the lengths of the branches it touches..

Take Care

Hmmmmm.....

Maybe something like this can give a rough figure:
   First image
       color to value
Second image (mapped to user channel)
       A if Question
if user channel is less than color
       then user channel to value
       else color to value
and so on....

or in one image a "compare the channels"
   lowest value wins.

At all: The use of one image looks good to me,
where one channel sets the size for z-depth.
Needs some thinking around the edge.
And different figures will need different scripts.

An interesting idea, while using paint functions, too.
I've never tried it :-?
