Yes, in this scene I have worked without any background. I didn't have 
exercised to make blur or distortion, but it will comes ;-)

My current question: "theme refraction": Optical thickness for a) glass is 
0.33, for b) water 0.25 and c) ice 0.236? It's right?
A new picture I have added here... rendering times over 24:35 minutes... uargh 
:-D

One thing that is important with glass and ice scenes is to have 
something in the background to show through (blurred/ distorted). It 
helps the reading of the ice.  The easier thing to do is blur the ice 
area in post processing.
