If you look at the fix version of the issue in question http://jira.magnolia-cms.com/browse/MGNLDMS-100 you would see that it was fixed (== implemented) only in DMS version 1.3 which shipped with Magnolia 4.0.1 so you are not able to use this in older versions. In 3.6.5 the only workaround for the issue you have it to have apache in front stripping the headers as described in the issue itself.
