Hmm. I know this is not the core of your question, but this puzzles me. There are samples with 4.0.1 too. (in the add-ons folder, I believe, if you downloaded the bundle) They are less directly useable than the 3.6.5 ones (one could argue - and i would agree - that those were far from useable in real life anyway), more targeted at developers. There's a good chance those don't even work properly.
